Tigermoth is where you’ll find quirky homeware and a stunning selection of unique and individual gifts.

Our vision first came to mind – as all the best ideas do – over a bottle of wine around the kitchen table.  Whilst holidaying on the Isle of Skye in the summer of 2016 I came across these little handmade bothies in a gift store.  They were so beautiful, so unique and so expertly made.  I wanted one, and I wanted everyone I knew to have one too.

The seed was planted, what if I could sell these funky wee bothies alongside other hand crafted pieces? I had always hankered over a small outlet that could cater for discerning shoppers with similar tastes to mine.  The idea of spending my time searching out things of beauty from makers across the county was super exciting.

In the real world, I had a BA in Business Studies with Retail, earned my stripes on shop floors and latterly moved into IT in the financial sector. Tough gigs.  None as tough as being a stay at home mum however.  E-commerce seemed the perfect fit and Tigermoth was born.

Early in 2017, I took the plunge and registered Tigermoth Retail (Tigermoth is a childhood nickname). I then contacted Glenshee Pottery who make those little bothies that had so inspired me, and managed to secure my first trade account.   Since then it’s been a whirl of trade shows and craft fairs, seeing out small producers to bring a range of gorgeous, quirky and sometimes one-off pieces to the Tigermoth range.

I want all our products to embody Tigermoth.   They must be beautiful, quirky and made with love.  The hardest products I found to source were candles, lots of beautifully packaged ones out here but nothing that really spoke to me. I spent a lot of time researching, as I do with all my range, and at last that hard work paid off.  I found Lovescottishcandles, a Scottish company who produce exquisite hand poured soy candles.

This dogged determination to find the right thing and not just a nice thing is what Tigermoth is all about.  You’ll see that in everything from our Harris Tweed cushions by House of Tweed to Bib & Tucker – dog neckerchiefs, which incidentally have appeared in Town& Country, GQ and Bazaar magazines!

Now you know why we do what we do, let’s go and discover!
